Max and Hedi Gossweiler emigrated from Switzerland in 1981.
After training as a chef, Max has worked and collected experience in the hotel and restaurant industry. He also worked for a number of years in farming in Switzerland and Canada, including owning a grain farm.
After growing up on a diversified dairy farm, Hedi's love for creative art and fashion took her through The College of Arts and FrauenarbeitschuleinSwitzerland.
She had other occupations, but was and still is, strongly involved in the fibre and fashion industry.
Now in Canada, the Gossweilers have four children and own and operate the Lone Eagle Motel and Campground since 1983.
In 1997 they bought their first alpacas and the business was named Swiss Line Alpacas.
Shorty after the name Alpaca Expressions of Canada was created which presents the fashion part from the alpaca business.
The motel and farm are conveniently located in Herbert, Saskatchewan on Highway #1, just 30 min. east of Swift Current.
Our Goal and Commitment
Giving our motel customers over the many years a first class service and relaying on repeat business is very rewarding.
We are also striving to serve our customers in the alpaca and (fibre) fashion industry the same way.
Our goal in raising alpacas is to selectively breed for fineness, colour and conformation. To achieve this, Max and his team give the alpacas individual and professional care and attention, including organic food and mineral-mix.
Hedi, with many award-winning creations, is a leader in designing and producing unique alpaca fashions. She believes in high quality Canadian made products. The name tag Alpaca Expressions of Canada says it all
Max was serving as a director of the Saskatchewan Alpaca Breeders Network (SABN)
He was also a driving force behind the first Canadian Alpaca campaign on Global TV.
Hedi's other passion is needle felting and also painting, mainly acrylics but also enjoys water colour.
Hedi is involved in numerous fashion shows including Sask fibre in demand in Saskatoon in Sept. 2007 and the annual fashion show at theCowboy Poetry and Western Art & Gear Show in Maple Creek.
Hedi has won many first place awards, including Judge’s Choice awards, at fibre competitions.
She participated in the 2005 High Fibre Exhibition at Art Gallery of Swift Current and also exhibits yearly at the Summer Salon at the Art Gallery of Swift Current.
She is the coordinator of the annual Highway1StudioTour and is a member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council.
To sum it up their slogan is
Quality is our Business!
